Our Holiday Guide to Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the closest Canary Island to Africa and is the second largest island in Canaries. With warm and sunny weather all year round and more than 150 beaches, it really is a beach lover’s paradise. You’ll also find a rocky landscape and incredible sand dunes, which also makes it a great choice if you love a bit of action and adventure on your holiday. No matter what makes your perfect escape, Fuerteventura has something for everyone.

Beautiful beaches

There’s no other Canary Island with as many sand dunes and beautiful beaches; Fuerteventura is also home to some of the most impressive beaches in all of Europe. Ajuy beach has fine black volcanic sand that contrasts perfectly with the blue of the sea. Just south of Correlajo, you’ll find the breath-taking sand dunes of Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo. This 11km stretch has fine white sand and you’ll also get great views of the neighbouring islands of Lanzarote and Los Lobos.

Family fun

Fuerteventura is a great choice for a family holiday in the sun, with activities for children (and adults) of all ages. Oasis Park Fuerteventura is a nature lover’s haven. Home to around 3000 animals, you’ll be able to take a ride on a camel, see an animal show, wander through the botanical garden and much more. For water babies, try Acua Water Park in Corralejo. There’s exciting water slides, a wave pool, a dedicated children’s area as well as bowling and a miniature golf course.

Action and adventure

This Canary Island is a great choice if you love a bit of action and adventure on your holiday. Why not try your hand at a new water sport like stand up paddle boarding or windsurfing (the breeze off of the Jandía peninsula is perfect for this). You can head inland and explore the mountainous landscape on a jeep safari or jump on a horse and let your steed guide you through the incredible volcanic scenery.
